It all started when two people fell in love. Sounds clique, right?

When Mark decided to accept the Lords call and move to Leon, Nicaragua in 2013 to do mission work, he wasn’t expecting to fall in love with his Spanish teacher, Luvys. But, that’s exactly what happened.

God’s plans are always bigger than our and this love story was no coincidence.

Well, Mark and Luvys got married in 2015 and moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to start their new life together. From day one they alway knew they wanted to serve and minister in Nicaragua, but they didn’t know what or how that would look like.

A few years ago the idea of Sana Ministries started taking shape when they were in Leon visiting family and friends. Luvys met up with a friend from school who had recently finished Med School and he mentioned how he was starting a free clinic for when he wasn’t working at the hospital.

This was the beginning and the pieces started falling into place. In the summer of 2021 the first organized week of half day health clinics were held and over 1,400 people were served!
